Last month, one of our Rutgers Health Provosts, Dr. Jeffery Carson, gave a special Grand Rounds presentation to the medical staff of the main referral hospital in Gaborone, Botswana. The presentation at Princess Marina Hospital was titled International Indications for and Adverse Effects of Red-Cell Transfusions. The hospital has already incorporated the lessons learned and modified their transfusion medicine guidelines to help preserve the blood supply.
