“How Rutgers is Helping to Create a More Equitable Recovery from COVID-19” was the focus of a virtual event that brought together university and community partners to discuss pandemic-related challenges facing low-income and minority communities in New Jersey.
School of Social Work doctoral candidate Allison Bates is studying African foodways and their connection to social identity and health in the Black community. She created a website with resources to explore the relationships between historical and current dietary patterns and health outcomes in this population.
Faculty-led projects in New Jersey, China, Peru, and several African nations will address issues related to suicide, food insecurity, HIV stigma, public health capacity building, and lifesaving bleeding control.
