The Rutgers Global Health Institute Student Council hosted its annual welcome meeting on Friday, October 8. The virtual event was the council’s first official gathering for the 2021–2022 academic year and was led by the council’s newly installed co-presidents, Brooke Margolin and Laura Palm. The student council’s committee co-chairs and faculty mentors also were involved in the meeting, as were institute director Richard Marlink and core faculty member Mark Robson, who serves as the faculty lead for the institute’s student engagement efforts.
This year, the nearly 80-member council includes students who are affiliated with 19 schools and colleges throughout the university. The council represents the student voice at the institute and works to advance global health engagement opportunities for students throughout Rutgers. Among the council’s goals this year is to align the committees’ activities with the institute’s strategic goals, which include health equity programming related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the promotion of global health pathways for students.
