Several core faculty and staff of Rutgers Global Health Institute are among the recipients of this year’s Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Chancellor Awards, announced on August 30. The Chancellor Awards recognize the extraordinary work of faculty and staff throughout the division in categories related to research and innovation; health care delivery; community service; diversity, equity, and inclusion; education and mentoring; leadership; teamwork; and service.

Congratulations to the Rutgers Global Health Institute awardees for 2023:


Anita Kinney
Core faculty member

Excellence in Community Service Award: for significant contributions and leading efforts to serve external communities and be committed in service to others

Kinney is director of the Center for Cancer Health Equity at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and the School of Public Health and a professor in the school’s Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology.

 

Arpita Jindani
Staff member

Teri Lassiter
Core faculty member

Excellence in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award: for significant contributions to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, or service including clinical care at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences

Jindani is the manager for health equity and education/training at Rutgers Global Health Institute and the program manager for the institute’s Resilient New Jersey program.

Lassiter is the assistant dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the School of Public Health and an assistant professor in the school’s Department of Urban-Global Public Health.

 

Elisa Bandera
Core faculty member

Distinguished Mentor Award: for exceptional, sustained contributions to mentoring postdoctoral and/or clinical fellows, junior faculty, and staff, and/or mentoring undergraduate and graduate students

Bandera is a professor in the Department of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and holds several leadership positions at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New jersey, including chief of cancer epidemiology and health outcomes, co-leader of the cancer prevention and control program, and Unilever Endowed Chair for the Study of Diet and Nutrition in the Prevention of Chronic Disease.
