Fostering International Collaborations: How Can We Become More Engaged?

May 20, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Logos for AWS & PTSThe Association of Women Surgeons and the Panamerican Trauma Society present a “tweetchat” that will be moderated by Rutgers Global Health Institute core faculty member Gregory Peck, assistant professor of surgery at Rutgers’ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; Paula Ferrada, professor of surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine; and Tanya Zakrison, trauma surgeon and surgical critical care intensivist in Miami, Florida.

The Twitter-based tweetchat will feature discussions of strategies on how to establish and maintain sustainable international collaborations in the clinical setting and in research. The following four questions will be addressed:

1. What are effective ways to engage in international collaborations in the clinical setting?
2. How can telemedicine contribute to fostering international collaborations in surgery?
3. How can a society/association promote international collaborations in research?
4. What is the role of international collaborations inside a society/association, and how can it be promoted in regional and national conferences?

#AWSchat on Twitter

The tweetchat will take place on Twitter using the hashtag #AWSchat and through the hosts’ Twitter accounts: @WomenSurgeons and @Panamtrauma. The Association of Women Surgeons offers a tutorial on participating in a tweetchat.

All are welcome to participate. Participants must have a Twitter account.
