Gregory Peck

Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery – Division of Acute Care Surgery, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

Gregory Peck’s work in the Rutgers Global Surgery program utilizes methodologies from participatory action research that coordinate a group of multidisciplinary students, residents, and fellows in their distributive ownership and collaborative leadership of health systems and team science.

Since the landmark publication “Global Surgery 2030: evidence and solutions for achieving health, welfare, and economic development,” by Meara et al., and the World Health Assembly Resolution 68.15, the global surgery unit’s work has been devoted to strengthening emergency and essential surgical care and anesthesia as a component of universal health coverage locally and globally. Peck’s and colleagues’ recent work has concentrated on surgical systems science and national surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia planning in LMICs.

Peck is active with projects in Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Ecuador.
