Shauna Downs

Assistant Professor, Department of Urban-Global Public Health, School of Public Health

Shauna Downs, PhD, MS, is an assistant professor in the Department of Urban-Global Public Health at Rutgers’ School of Public Health. Her research focuses on two main areas: the role of policies and interventions to reorient the food system towards the sustainable production and consumption of nutritious foods, and the implementation of food policies. She conducts research in India, Senegal, Myanmar, Kenya, Canada, and New York City using mixed-methods approaches.

Downs received a PhD in public health from the Menzies Centre for Health Policy at University of Sydney. She also has a master of science in nutrition from the University of Alberta, Canada.
