Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital

As one of the five elements of our overall partnership with Botswana’s Ministry of Health and Wellness and the University of Botswana, Rutgers Global Health Institute is engaged in a technical advisory relationship between the new Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital and Rutgers. This advanced, public-sector teaching hospital is located on the grounds of University of Botswana and promises to dramatically expand Botswana’s capacity to train local health care specialists and to care for its people.

Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital is the first quaternary hospital within Botswana’s public sector health care system. The ongoing importance of the clinical services and specialized training it will deliver for the nation cannot be overstated. Our joint strategy acknowledges the vision to develop centers of excellence in areas such as oncology, cardiovascular disease, and maternal health. In addition, the teaching hospital will provide other specialty services that are currently unavailable to the public sector in Botswana.
