As the director of global health at RWJBarnabas Health, which is the clinical health care partner of Rutgers, Ernani Sadural is responsible for overseeing the global health activities across the network’s eleven acute care hospitals. This work is anchored upon the goals of eliminating health disparities and strengthening community resilience through the lens of social determinants.

Early-stage projects involve development of community mental health workers in post-hurricane Puerto Rico; supporting primary care mental health collaboration in the Dominican Republic; and addressing maternal and children-under-5 mortality in the southern Philippines through midwifery education, vaccinations, and service partnerships with government, medical, academic, and community institutions. In exploration-stage is a collaboration in central Appalachia with a model safety-net clinic in Wise, Virginia.
