David Foran’s research focuses on the design, development, and implementation of new approaches in biomedical informatics, computer-assisted diagnostics, telemedicine, medical imaging, precision medicine, and machine learning for resolving challenging clinical problems in pathology, radiology, and oncology. He is director of the Rutgers Cancer Institute’s Center for Biomedical Imaging and Informatics.
Among his numerous collaborations, Foran is working with colleagues throughout Rutgers and other university and corporate partners to improve health care training and care efficacy in Botswana. An area of focus is identifying how cutting-edge technology can be used to improve the nation’s overall health care system, given the current technology infrastructure’s challenges and opportunities. This includes the development of pilot projects to give access to digital training assets for pathology students in Botswana and improve clinical decision support at point of care.
