Minutes to Die: a Documentary on Snakebite

Rutgers Global Health Interest Group presents a screening and discussion of Minutes to Die, a documentary film on a vastly ignored global health issue: snakebite.
Studies claim the rural poor fear snakebite more than malaria, tuberculosis, or HIV. Snakebite as a global health problem has a multitude of pitfalls, including poor medical infrastructure in rural areas; costly, ineffective antivenom; and the financial devastation families of snakebite victims face. Minutes to Die travels to five continents to capture the cries for help, the financial ruin families face to save loved ones, and the heroic scientists rushing to create breakthrough solutions.
The film will be followed by a discussion on health disparities associated with snakebite, led by a renowned Rutgers herpetologist, Dr. Sara Ruane.
