Leslie Kantor

Professor and Chair, Department of Urban-Global Public Health, School of Public Health

Leslie Kantor’s global work has focused on improving women’s sexual and reproductive health, including extensive work with the Averting Maternal Death and Disability and Reproductive Health Access Information and Services in Emergencies programs at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health as well as work to improve sexuality education policy and practice in numerous countries.

Since joining Rutgers in April 2018, Kantor has helped to strengthen the School of Public Health’s global health concentration; partnered with faculty to develop a new course that will take place in Dodoma, Tanzania, beginning in July 2019; and developed new projects related to reducing maternal morbidity and mortality in Newark, NJ, and improving public health indicators in Atlantic City, NJ, with a focus on increasing equity and reducing health disparities.
