Rutgers is hosting a documentary film screening at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in Piscataway.
Rutgers-based microbiologists Martin Blaser and Gloria Dominguez-Bello are subjects of this new documentary examining their decades-long research on the link between our bodies’ microbiome – the bacteria, fungi, and viruses that help us digest food and keep us healthy – and diseases like diabetes and asthma.
The Invisible Extinction follows Blaser, director of the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, and Dominguez-Bello, the Henry Rutgers Professor of Microbiome and Health at the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, as they travel the world in search of answers.
The screening event will include a Q&A with Blaser; Dominguez-Bello, who also is a core faculty member of Rutgers Global Health Institute; and filmmakers. A reception will follow.
Free and open to the public. Advance registration required by November 28. Learn more about the documentary.
