Improving Population Health through a Focus on Pregnancy and Early Childhood
The period between conception and the first two years of life – known as the “first 1,000 days” – is a sensitive period of rapid development. Prenatal exposures, the timing of birth, and newborn size can substantially influence the growth and development of young children. This seminar will describe methodological work in the application, use, and interpretation of child growth metrics and investigate the role of maternal prenatal nutrition in preventing adverse birth outcomes and optimizing human capital development.
