The Institute for the Study of Global Racial Justice (ISGRJ) is holding a summit on Friday, September 22, 2023, in Newark. Rutgers Global Health Institute core faculty member Michelle Stephens is the founding and executive director of ISGRJ. The following is from the event description provided by ISGRJ:
The Office of Undergraduate Intellectual Life at ISGRJ presents the 2023 Racial Justice Summit: Fighting for the Now, Hopeful for the Future! The Racial Justice Summit is the first student-led event to explore the future of racial justice on all three Rutgers campuses; encourage personal and intellectual growth; and help bolster nuanced conversation about community, activism, and responsibility.
ISGRJ created this event to be a space for students, faculty, administrators, and the general public alike to listen, learn, and be inspired. The summit theme – Fighting for the Now, Hopeful for the Future! – embodies the desire of young activists to tackle the most pressing racial justice issues, while daring to imagine a better world for us and for future generations.
The summit agenda is available on the event webpage. Highlights include:
Free and open to the public. Register online to attend (required). Free bus transportation will be provided to and from Express Newark for Rutgers students traveling from the university’s Camden and New Brunswick campuses; students must reserve transportation when registering for the summit.
