Research conducted by the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) and the Center for Environmental Exposures and Disease (CEED) examines the health effects of environmental contaminants and stressors on human health, with a particular emphasis in environmental justice communities. Research in Helmut Zarbl’s lab focuses on how molecular, genetic, genomic, epigenetic, host, dietary, and environmental factors contribute to toxicity, mutagenesis, genetic susceptibility, and pathogenesis of chronic diseases and their chemoprevention.

Zarbl has conducted work in the greater Newark area and is developing projects in Cambodia.
