Elayne P. McClaine
Elayne P. McClaine has been the regional director for the New Jersey Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick since 2013; she has been involved with the center since 2005. NJSBDC is affiliated with Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick, and it offers growth-focused training, counseling, and technical assistance for start-up entrepreneurs and established small businesses. She also is involved with the Rutgers I-Corps initiative and Rutgers Global Health Institute’s Equitable Recovery for New Jersey’s Small Businesses program.
Her expertise is in the areas of business and strategic planning, business valuation, franchising, and innovation for small businesses. She is a certified global business professional and a candidate for the business certified appraiser credential. In 2018, she received a grant from the U.S. State Department to train entrepreneurs in Honduras in Lean LaunchPad methodology.
McClaine is on the boards of the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Middlesex County Workforce Development Board, Downtown New Jersey, Asian Indian Chamber of Commerce, Metuchen-Edison NAACP, and Regional Business Development Corporation. She also is a licensed business broker and management consultant for ESME Market Specialists, LLC.
Prior to joining the NJSBDC, she was a leader in launching and repositioning businesses and consumer brands both domestically and globally, from small and midsize enterprises to Fortune 100 firms. She was awarded two U.S. Patents and received recognition from the American Academy of Dermatologists for marketing leadership. She received an M.B.A. in finance from Regis University and a B.A. in economics from Fordham University.
