Cristine Delnevo is a scholar in tobacco control and the director of Rutgers’ Center for Tobacco Studies. She holds a PhD in health studies and a master’s in public health.

Her work focuses on population-level patterns of tobacco use and tobacco control policy. As smoking prevalence is dropping to record low levels in the United States, she is interested in how the tobacco industry exports its deadly product globally. The tobacco industry has increasingly targeted low-and middle-income countries, where the number of tobacco users is increasing annually and dynamics are changing related to gender and age. As a result, Delnevo believes that different strategies are required and increased attention is necessary to change the trajectory of the tobacco epidemic globally.
