Rutgers University Academic Affairs is hosting the Daniel Gorenstein Memorial Award and Lecture, a special event on Tuesday, October 19, that will recognize Board of Governors Distinguished Service Professor Mark Gregory Robson for his outstanding scholarly achievement and exceptional service to the university.
“Rutgers – A Public University in the Land Grant Tradition that Provides Opportunities: How We Can Teach Our Students to Address Critical Global Issues” is the title of his lecture.
Robson, the 2021 recipient of the award, is a professor in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences’ Department of Plant Biology and a senior policy fellow in global health policy and practice at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. He also is a core faculty member of Rutgers Global Health Institute.
An internationally recognized scholar in environmental risk assessment and toxicology, he has focused his studies on the health effects of agricultural chemicals and food production practices in developing countries, which have resulted in important policy changes regarding the safe use of pesticides. He has been a leader in the Rutgers community for decades. His spirited commitment to his students through advising and mentoring is particularly extraordinary. He is heavily involved in Rutgers Global activities and previously served as co-chair of the Faculty Engagement Committee. Robson also is the current faculty lead for Rutgers Global Health Institute’s student engagement efforts. Beyond serving on countless departmental, school, and universitywide committees, he also serves as faculty director of the Byrne Seminars and is on the editorial board of the Rutgers University Press, currently serving as chair of the Press Council.
Free and open to the pubic. Advance registration is required. Zoom access information will be provided to registered attendees. Learn more about the Gorenstein Memorial Award and Robson’s contributions to Rutgers.
