The Center for Bioethics, within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research, is hosting a seminar on addressing the non-medical costs of care in low-income countries.
The presenter is Mark Shrime, MD, MPH, PhD, FACS, the founding director of the Center for Global Surgery Evaluation at Massachusetts Eye and Ear, as well as an assistant professor of otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School.
Shrime’s research centers on global access to surgery, surgical delivery in low- and middle-income countries, measurement and evaluation of the burden of surgical diseases, and the financial burden of surgery. His methods research extends cost-effectiveness analysis to incorporate measures of ethical importance such as equity weights, financial protection, and distributive effects.
