Ranita Sharma

Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

Ranita Sharma received her medical education in India, where the core principles of bedside medicine combined with theoretical knowledge fostered her development of clinical reasoning and critical thinking. Much of this took place in resource-limited environments.

Following her residency education in the United States, which included a year of chief residency, she has focused her career on graduate medical education in internal medicine over the last two decades. As the internal medicine residency program director at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School since 2005, she has gained experience in program development and educational leadership. Curricular innovation and faculty development remain areas of keen interest for Sharma.

Her clinical practice focuses on hospital-based medicine. She also serves as the executive vice chair for the Department of Medicine and chief of the Division of Education. She is actively involved with the American College of Physicians and was selected as a master (MACP) of the college in 2019. She welcomes the opportunity to engage in educational exchange programs on a global platform.
